Home Office – Craft Room Makeover with Coffered Wall!

Recently I had to move my home office downstairs to make room for the new nursery upstairs. I decided to do a combined home office/craft room for the days my daughter may be home with me while I’m working, I figured this would help keep her busy!

Craft Room

I started with her craft room as this is of course the more important half of the room :)

Furniture: I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on the furniture so I took an old oak table and chair set that I had, oak paint brush, and oak shelving unit (graciously given to me by my bosses wife from one of our model homes) and sprayed them white and of course I had to stain the table top and seats of the chairs in my signature grey stain for that craftsman look.

Wall Décor: I added a fun wall mounted mason jar organizer from target.com wall décor (they have such cute stuff right now) to organize my daughters art supplies. And of course I had to add a tinker bell vinyl so she would have someone to sit with when I’m working :)

The paint brush is my main wall accent in this room and I didn’t really feel like I needed to add anything else as this is such a statement piece.

Designated Areas: I purchased this chalk board/dry erase board from Urban Renewal in St. George which is one of my all time favorite 2nd hand stores. Jenny Larson the owner travels all over the U.S finding old antiques and doors, they also have amazing old toys from the 50s and 60s.

The Details: I got some very industrial baskets to hold her crayons and paint supplies so they can be easily cleaned, and topped it off with some clip boards to show case her art work.

Office

You may have already read my blog on the Coffered Wall “How To” which was the main feature of the office section of this room.

I wanted to keep this half of the room really simple with all the attention directed towards the coffered wall. I kept the color scheme and décor black and white and only brought in modern decor like the lamp with just a simple Edison bulb and no shade.

I topped the room off with ceiling height window treatments and a fun blue chevron rug from www.overstock.com.

1 room, 2 uses, in the end it came together perfectly!

Client Testimonials
  • We currently live in Evans, Georgia and are preparing to retire in the upcoming summer. We have known for several years that we wanted to retire in the Southwestern region of the United States-in a place with beautiful scenery, wonderful weather for outdoor activities, low crime, and great people. The St. George, Utah area continued to be a place we visited, and last year, we decided to move forward with our retirement plans. Having no contacts west of Georgia, we were faced with the task of finding someone to help us make our dream a reality. Our realtor, Laura Taylor, introduced us to Seth Foster and the wheels were set in motion. We knew Dixie Springs was the area in which we wanted to build our home, but more importantly, we quickly realized that Seth and Shem Foster were the builders we were willing to entrust. Bob Raybould helped us secure an ideal lot, and Design Consultant, Yvonne Christensen, discussed options with us. Over the next three months, we primarily dealt with the American Heritage Homes’ team from 2100 miles away. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of this process. Seth and Shem were always available to us. Yvonne kept in constant contact through email and phone calls. Her keen ability to understand our interests was amazing, and her ideas and suggestions were perfectly suited for our tastes. During this time, we traveled to Utah twice for our pre and final walk-throughs. Both times, Shem spent time with us walking through our house and making sure that we were satisfied. Yvonne met with us and reviewed our selections. Bob offered his time and agreed to keep an eye on our house. We truly appreciate the workmanship, professionalism, and caring attitude that the American Heritage Homes’ team showed us during the construction process and beyond. We are very anxious to be permanent residents of Utah and reside in our beautiful new home. See Y’all Soon!
